Carriage House is a Raleigh Housing Authority public housing apartment complex. Applicants must go through the public housing application process and will be offered the first available public housing unit of the appropriate size. Applicants can express a preference but cannot apply for Carriage House only. Note: DO NOT CALL OR VISIT CARRIAGE HOUSE DIRECTLY for application or vacancies information. Also units are very rarely available for prospective residents to view. 87 efficiency and 13 one-bedroom apartments in a high-rise building, renovated in 2009-2010. Residents must be at least 50 years old with income below $28,000 for one or $32,000 for a couple, but preference is given to those 62+. Utilities, appliances and air conditioning are included in rent, and rent is based on income. Does not take Section 8 vouchers. Approximately 12-month wait list. Public housing application process itself may take 3-4 months because of current backlog.
