The AARP Driver Safety Program is an 8-hour refresher course designed to help tune up driving skills and update knowledge of the rules of the road; learn about normal age-related physical changes, and how to adjust driving to allow for these changes; reduce traffic violations, crashes, and chances for injuries; drive more safely. The course is offered locally at senior centers and other locations. There is also an online version of the course. Most classes are taught in two, four-hour sessions spanning two days. Website offers search by zip code, and gives dates, times, and locations of upcoming classes. If do not have web access, call the toll-free number to leave a message, and a volunteer will contact you to inform of classes in your area. In Wake County, classes are offered at senior centers and some community centers. Online classes are also available. There is no final test to pass the course.
